Day 15: Taking a Closer Look at Humanism

Objectives

Students will be able to research on the main tenets of Humanism to prepare for a discussion for this learning theory.

I. Your first task today is to become an expert on Humanism. Please read the material I´ve posted below.

a.  To start learning about Humanism in psychology, please read this article.  Now, please go to this website to learn about Humanism in learning.

b.  Check out Maslow´s Hierarchy of Needs.
This article also offers valuable information on Maslow´s Hierachy of Needs as well; don´t read it all now, you don´t have time, but you can skim thorough it to get main ideas.

c.  Read here about ARCS Model of Motivational Design

d.  One very important topic in Humanism is Emotional Intelligence. Find out about it here.

e.  This is an abbreviated summary of Kolb´s Experential Learning.

f.  Please, read about Deci and Ryan´s Self-Determination Theory.

II. Now that you know quite a lot about Humanism, please answer the questions on this handout

III. Save your answer as document and send it to your email inbox. You can print it and bring it with you tomorrow when we´ll have a discussion on Humanism.


Homework

If you didn´t finish today, please do so at home. You need to be prepared for tomorrow´s discussion. Participation will be graded.
